We have some of those plastic utensils too Dave. Everything is bad for us. Dinner was delicious but not healthy. A very tasty soup. Sausage, spinach, potatoes, light cream (called for heavy) chicken broth, pepper and maybe celery. It's OK, we had salad for lunch.

 

Who knows maybe boomers will historically be known as the plastic generation.
The moniker certainly fits for a multitude of reasons. Plastics existed before but we made it ubiquitous.

 

braised short ribs for dinner tonight, I like mine on a bed of polenta, my wife despises polenta so she gets mashed potatoes instead.

 

Sounds very yummy. We bought a couple of Turkish borek at the farmers market today - spinach and beef.

 

I’ve never heard of borek. Looked it up sounds good!

 

I get it at a Croatian bakery we have near my work, when they cook it the smell wafts over to my office and makes me hungry lol

 

We made spaghetti with fried zucchini (from our garden) tonight. I have to admit, despite me being Italian for over 50 years I never heard of the recipe until Stanley Tucci said it was his favourite dish, (Pasta Alla Nerano) and I seen it on his Italian travel show. It is one of our favourites now too, and similar to dish where we use fried eggplant (Pasta alla Norma) too. It turned out great tonight.

We do not leave the fried zucchini in the fridge overnight though, we fry it at the same time as we use it with the pasta, and we fry it in olive oil, not sunflower oil. I also add in a good amount of parsley

We had a Chick Fil-A open an outlet in our area recently. I was driving by today and decided to try it out. I try to avoid fried food but I wanted to try this. We got a basic sandwich with pickles, I didn't explore the menu much but I just wanted a simple sandwich. , it came with waffle fries. I was pleasantly surprised , it was pretty good. I won't be eating there much because it is fried but I do like it.

 

Here in Ohio, at Chick-fil-A, there is also a choice to have grilled, rather than fried, chicken.
