Since we had a lot of snow... 1/4".... and colder temps...
The cardinals have arrived....
The Juncos have arrived....
The Downy Woodpeckers have arrived...
The Blue Jays are willing to play toss again (new batch, been working on them for a month!)....

I've seen one once while in Maine. One of my co workers lives near a body of water and he tells me he has eagles, egrets, herons, on the property. I've got an invite to head over there with my camera. It's on my "to do" list for sure!

Finally have some birds, thanks for the encouragement Dave. Like you, we are expecting a heap of snow and the need for food has overcome the fear of strange feeders. We don't feed the birds in the summer but it doesn't usually take them so long to come to the feeders once they are out. May be a neighbor has a better menu.

We just got a new feeder that has three different chambers in it. I'm going to fill one chamber with sun flower seeds now that the cardinals have started to show up.

I use Tractor Supply's 'Royal Wing Classic Mix' which is a mixture of white millet, milo, cracked corn, wheat and black oil sunflower seed. The Chickadees and Titmouse love it. The Cardinals will pick thru but it isn't their first choice.
