Thanks...I did make sure the feeders were OK, and the food was not clumped up, that has happened before. The suet had gone bad and I didn't realize it. I hope the birds are not annoyed with me.

Don't worry, Lainey. Those little fellas are watching you and know you've cleaned up their buffet. I have some periods of low feeder activity and usually find it is just temporary. Yesterday was almost bizarre and looked like a scene from that Hitchcock movie, The Birds. I've never seen so many!!!! Then this morning when I went out to check feeders and re-fill the fountain and birdbath, there was only a cardinal out there. I'm hearing those little wonderful white throated sparrows every morning now. Their song is superb! I've also noticed that our mockingbird from last year has returned to the Holly tree out back.

Thanks, Darlene. I saw a couple of house finch parked out at one feeder this AM. I'll check the feeders this weekend again. They probably should have less feed in them so it doesn't spoil. I miss the little woodpeckers. Hoping to see the Carolina Wren again soon. He/she was a fan of the suet. Love it's little song!

I have a little more activity at one feeder, and the dark eyed Juncos have arrived. Here's little bird feeding story you might appreciate:

Checking out my bird feeders and their water on Saturday. It was VERY cold on Friday night. Yep, the little bird bath was frozen. Dump out ice. The birds need water. Oh, wait! There are a couple of jugs of water on the deck for plant watering (plants are gone). I'll grab one of those. Well DUH, those are frozen too. Go ahead an laugh at me...I laughed at myself.

Before we laugh.... how long did it take you to realize the jugs were frozen? Did you try and pour it and stand there for 30 seconds before you figured it out?

Sorry, couldn't pass that one up!

Maybe five seconds...In my defense the jugs of water were not totally frozen............I poured out what I could then brought the jug in the house to get some liquid water vs ice. Now you can laugh!

Feeder activity picking up. Mr and Mrs. Cardinal have stopped by but have not posed for photos. I've got the titmouse, chickadees, song sparrow, house sparrow, gold finch, white breasted nut hatch hanging around. Grabbed a few photos today.

Since my neighbor took down an old diseased pine tree, it's hard to get bird photos in natural habitat. I caught the nuthatch in another tree in his yard. The song sparrow and other birds hang out our in our large evergreen shrubs. I got lucky when one poked his head out long enough to grab a shot.

Thanks, Gary. Grabbed a few photos of sandpipers today at the beach...
Not sure of the out of focus foreground, but I like the bokeh...The second one may be better composed? Maybe they are just bird photos....??
