I saw that. I've never seen one in my yard. Very cool!

The Easter Towhee —a cool looking bird. As I’ve said before, most of the birds that frequent my feeders are “Earth Toned” with the exception of a rare Golden House Finch and various Blue Jays and Blue Birds.

Since living here, which has been a very long time, I’ve never seen Colorado’s state bird, the “Lark Bunting”. I suspect that Colorado's very wise legislators were trying to be unique at the time that a state bird became a necessity.

Put up two pieces of wire, with nuts on the end, hanging 6" and 12" below the feeder. Hung the wires from nearby branches this time.

Since then, zero sparrows...... lots of house finches and cardinals at the safflower feeder.

I'm sold on this now..... seed is lasting 2-3 days now!

Both wires/nuts are hanging in front of the bird feeder.

Last time I did it, I had a piece of OSB (2'x2') above the bird feeder, with wire/nuts hanging down from all four corners. No birds visited the feeder when I had it like that.

It's so simple, hard to believe it works. Keep us posted. If needed a short piece from the top side of feeder to hang about 6" below the feeder would probably work too. My line is closer to the feeder (on the shepherds hooks) or even on the feeder as I have no trees from which to hang the line.

I clamped two large wire ties to the bird feeder and it worked. I have no sparrows.......or any other bird for that matter.

I am going to give it a few days as the sparrows had chased away all of the other birds. I will wait and see if the others come back.
