We spent the day putting up a new 4x4 eight foot treated pole. Pole digger down 2 feet and with the dirt around it packed layer by layer. Then came five feet of 6" duct work to slide over it with both ends packed between it and pole with very dense padding to stop noise and any little creature that thinks it can dig it out from inside. Then the top hat, a duct cap sliced to slip on top and screwed in. Next a board platform on the very top, followed by the (finally) bird feeder. Plus a suet feeder added. I'm sure the birds will love it and it will outlast both of us.

I put my two metal poles in the back yard today. The feeders will go out in the few weeks.
