I still have two hummingbirds (at least) saw them today. I'm keeping their feed fresh.

I was also going through a ton of thistle. Rick commented maybe the holes on the bag were just too big. The other day while a bird was on the bag, I could see seed raining from the bottom and there were no holes. My solution was to use two bags at the same time. That seems to have worked as I didn't refill until today and it had been a few days since I had put any feed out for them.

Anyone else use thistle for the finches? I get a fair amount of Gold finches, lots of house finches, and the darn sparrows will eat from the thistle bag too.

I've not used thistle. I love to feed the birds but got tired of the seed streaming out of the feeder when the strong winds blew. I put some seeds out on the deck railing yesterday and saw birds eating it. The feeder is blown off from hanging under the deck cover and is on the grass. I also hesitate to put seen out because my cats are allowed outside in the morning. They will catch the birds.

We still have a couple hummingbirds; up until just a couple days ago we still had grosbeaks and orioles.

We had to stop putting out grape jelly . . . the bees were taking over. ..... it is that time of the year.
