We had one try the same thing a couple days ago but as soon as I saw the build start I stopped it. There are lots of other options.

I missed the building of the nest as I rarely use that door and the birds must have been flying in off camera. By the time I saw it, there were eggs in the nest. Now I think they're feeding babies so I'll leave them to it and get rid of the nest when the babies grow up.

We have a cardinal's nest behind a hanging plant, one of those half-moon shaped ones, that is about 8' up on a trellis. It one noisy bird. Roxy and I chased a chipmunk off the screen behind it today. Hope the eggs make it. And later, Roxy killed a chipmunk; not sure if it was the same one or not.

Large goldfinch population hanging around my thistle bags. Going through quite a bit of thistle what about the rest of you who feed the birds.

We seem to have no end to Rose-breasted Grosbeaks this year. Every time I look at a feeder is a male or female or both eating. Clearly some have made nests close.

I look for and rarely see Cedar wax wings. The other morning I was getting into my car at the Y and three or more flew out of a tree into a shrub right in front of me. No camera in the car

^5-30-2024. I've never seen three hummers at my feeder at the same time. They get very active after sunset. This was taken at 8:20 PM.



^5-27-2024. I didn't know about the Black Chinned hummingbird and that's one that has recently come to my two feeders. They aren't aggressive like the Rufous.

Donna suspects the reason you see so many hummers at the same feeder is because there are so few flowers, etc. for them in the area. Your thoughts?

I’ve had a birds nest up in the rafters in the back of my house for years and I just noticed it is now down on the ground. Wondering if the damn chipmunks knocked it down. Figuring leaving it be is the best move?
