I've had light feeder activity as well and I'm thinking the birds are not migrating normally due to the warmer temps up north. Glad your feeder experiments are working, Lainey. I experience much fewer trouble with the nuisance birds using only black oil sunflower seed. I never use a mix. It is generally very humid here and mixes will spoil rapidly where the black oil sunflower seed does not. I do put out suet cakes and I'm surprised that all the birds seem to enjoy it, even the cardinals.

Very cool! I love the one that keeps coming back trying to cram another peanut in his beak.

Not feeder birds, but we saw so many different kinds of birds on the river/marsh dolphin encounter in SC the other day. I'll post more about the trip on my pic thread.

I also liked the video that came up next on youtube.... of the guy throwing the peanuts up in the air and the bluejays catching them in flight!

Put the wire and nuts up....

Only thing at the feeder today was a frickin squirrel.....

Went out and bought a 50 lb bag of safflower seed to put in the feeder when the sunflower seed runs out!

I replaced the string with monofilament yesterday. With the string there has not been a bird at the feeder. but then again how would I know? It is dark when I leave and it is dark when I get home!
