Feeding the Birds
#2221
I might have had a juvenile cat bird in the yard today. Small gray bird, not like my usual suspects. I was able to get very close. I even put some bird seed in my hand to see if it would eat some seed. At that point he/she flew to the top of the shrubs. Google photos seems to agree with what I saw.
I also put out some mandarin oranges now and again. The squirrels love them. I saw a cat bird pecking at the sections too. I had also put grapes out there and not sure what critter ate them, but they are gone.

Our robins are starting to get feathers. Roxy drives mom nuts every time she runs by but we do what we can to get it to a minimum.

This was a surprise. I've had hummingbirds nest in this ficus before but it's pretty sparse this year. It's in the pot beyond the fountain.

How lucky you are!!

There are three active bird nests at my California house. These are two swallow nests above the garage.
There's a finch nest under my deck on the back of the house and a hummingbird nest, pictured above, in a potted ficus. There had been a nest inside the wreath on one of the front doors. I took it out.

I'm on the deck Nice day here. Playing catch up after being away. Fresh seed and clean feeders are out. Hummingbirds are happy. Added a jelly feeder with oranges. Will see if the Orioles show up Found out that crackles will fly off with peanuts tossed out for the blue jays.

Orioles sure are loving our grape jelly feeder . . . much more than 1/2 an orange.
