It may not be pretty, but those little fellas eat a lot of bugs, especially harmful ones. I have several that travel over my property in the late evening and they used to get up on my feeders but for some reason they're not bothering them anymore. I am however dealing with a zillion redwing blackbirds and their skanky cousins, starlings and grackles. They're eating a cake of suet a day and emptying my feeders.

Morris/Dean, I need to see ^it again. David, do you take these photos from inside the house with a great telephoto or zoom, lens? I have the birds on rare occasions and their song is what gets me up to see who's singing the different song. I never get a shot of them as they're very skittish.

I love to see the northern flickers but rarely see them here. Used to see a lot of them in Virginia.

Yes, I take the shots from inside with a 150-600mm lens.
