Feeding the Birds
#1711
February is National Bird Feeding Month.
From TriviaHive.com:
"John Porter, congressman of Illinois, held a particular sensitivity to the plight of birds who had to commute thousands of miles each year. He founded National Bird Feeding Month in February in order to spread interest in goodwill toward these birds, and to encourage providing seeds for the birds to eat as they waited on February to give way to spring."
I thought this bit of trivia would be of interest to those of you who post regularly in this thread. We are keeping our feeders full, even though natural food sources are easier to find here than, say, Canada. Our feeders are quite popular with a much wider variety of birds this time of year.

Filled them yesterday. Bird bath has fresh water. I've had my usual visitors on a frequent basis.

Snapped a few bird seed thieves today.

Well fed! I have no such visitors.

Val sent me a video of a bunch of cedar waxwings on her bird fountain. Really cool, but I guess there is no way I can post it here.
