I’m the owner of a 250 Watt Allied Precision Aluminum (API) Bird Bath Deicer. It does an excellent job of keeping the bird bath ice free; it has worked well in -6F temperatures.
It’s thermostatically controlled so that recognizes freezing temperatures, and when it does heats the water to a max of 36-38F. Its weight keeps it submerged and stable so that even crows can bath without disturbing it. The packaged information states it will keep approximately 30 gallons of water ice free. It comes with a 10’ cord that I secure to the bath..

We sure do. This one is at least 7 years old and still going. In fact we bought a new one, $80 w/shipping, thinking this one is bound to go sooner or later. Typically they last about 5 years. The round metal thing is a weight we set on it since the squirrels can knock it around getting their water.

I chose my concrete unit for its aesthetics and physical stability. - concrete does have a porosity issue that can harbor fungus that plastic unit may not. Because of my choice of concrete I sanitize the bird bath bi-monthly. So...It's your choice, Patty

Thank you, Gary!

I agree, concrete and scrub it out every couple weeks. We also add fresh water every couple days.

I spent a lot of time reading reviews and ended up ordering this one on Amazon. It doesn't come with a stand but people have put it on their decks, a paint bucket or a garden pot. It should come by Sunday. I'm so looking forward to water for my visitors.

so when you use the outdoor bird cookers, how long do they take before they are done?

One of the reasons that my bird visitations are in decline. Yet another hawk as has joined the surveillance of my bird feeder. It has been hanging around for the last few days.
