I was paying a little more attention and noticed they were at the hummingbird feed almost all day now that the flowers are dying off. I don't recall ever seeing two at the same time on our feeder; although I have seen it at other people's houses. Nice pics.

Thanks Dave. I know they will be gone soon. We still have plenty of flowers, but they seem to be stoking up for their departure feeding from the feeders.

The male hummingbird continues to sit on the garden fence, protecting his turf. I've never seen that before. Last night while in the yard, I confirmed that we have four (maybe more) of these birds frequenting our feeders. I could also see a bright red throat on a second hummingbird, which would mean two adult males, one male juvenile and one female are hanging out. But that's not to say there are not more, that's what we've seen at the same time. I had heard if you want to stop turf wars, place feeders out of sight line of other feeders. Today I found an article that suggests otherwise. More feeders, closer together, and the sounds they make will bring more hummingbirds around. Time to go shopping for more feeders and about 20 pounds of sugar!

The antics of the hummingbirds kept me entertained for quite a while last night. They were like little fighter pilots, dive bombing at each other, flying up and down and all around. Again I saw four at once. I also ordered another feeder. I need to work my way up to about 10 of them, so I can really be busy when I get to retirement....

Lainey, your hummingbird shots are better than the real thing. I love the one of the scratching bird with his feathers puffed up.

Aww thanks Patricia. You get a bit more detail once they are cropped. This guy was right outside my kitchen window. Wish his little face would have been brighter.

Dean, I say that every year. I swear they look me right in the eye as I watch them from the window or as they fly by on the deck. I think they appreciate the food. Heck if someone feeds me a sugar product, I'm happy as all get out.
