Feeding the Birds
#1241
I think the Cedar Waxwings are one cool bird. I've never had one in my yard, but I've seen them locally and photographed a couple. Thanks for sharing, Emil.

Standoff at the suet feeder. We've also seen what appears to be a male feeding another male? Dad and son??

Another great shot. BTW, ordered the seed catcher; will be here Sat.

Thanks. They are saving a bit of a mess under the feeders. I try to dump them every other day, and hose them out at least once a week....the cardinal and other birds are sometimes feeding in it. I keep a small rock in the center, but it doesn't always stay there so the catchers do blow around a bit...

Red-bellied woodpecker nest in a tree I pass daily. The parents are regulars at my feeders. Poor baby must be ready to have a heat stroke. He was crying a lot earlier, he may be ready to fledge. His mother was hanging out with him.

Another of the woodpeckers. One was feeding the other. The photos are not as sharp as I'd like through the window, across the yard, and cropped, and light was waning. Notice how one woodpecker has just a little red on the top of the head, the other has the red on the back of the head and it's more vibrant. Adult male and juvenile male? Anyone know? Also had a family of four nuthatches hanging around. Busy night at the feeder.
