Going to put out a fresh orange today. No Oriole sighting yet. Feeders are busy though. Hummingbirds are quite active. Seed catching trays working quite well. All is well in bird land.

I was on Antelope Island outside of Salt Lake City, and heard those Western Meadowlarks in every second bush. Damn ventriloquists! I spent about an hour. I'd creep up to bush after bush where the songs were coming from, only to come up empty on spotting any of the birds.

I was also down in Texas a few years ago for the bird migration. Corpus Christi and then further south, west of Brownsville. Everybody put out the oranges for the Orioles (2 or 3 types) and a fairly large yellow bird called the Great Kiskadee. At one place, the Convention Center in Corpus Christi, they brought a whole bag of oranges for the birds.

In other news, this past Mother's day, went to Crown Point, N.Y. with some borrowed grandkids for the bird banding. In short order walking in, spotted 11 species, including a Magnolia Warbler and plenty of Ospreys, just not the rare blueosprey. We banded a Yellow-Rumped Warbler, but I also saw one for quite some time on the wing. Also banded a Jay. Tree and barn swallows all around. We left when all the donuts were gone.

I should get out my bird list.

Very cool. I saw barn swallows last week at the little conservation area I've been going to. They were too far away for a photo, even with the zoom. There are other areas that mentioned some migrating birds I would have liked to see, but I think by the time we get there, they will have moved on. We are busy this weekend and will be hanging out with Vintage folks the following weekend.

This is my best picture of an eagle. It was tolerant of the hordes of people constantly photographing it and her mate in a local wildlife park.

Gary, that's an exceptional picture! I've never seen one so close in the wild.

Very nice!! I wish I had gotten better pics of the hundreds of eagles along the train route from Vancouver to Seattle when we went to Canada in 2016. There were all ages. But the train was moving and so not easy!! Here are three. I think the dark bird is a very large crow, but not sure. Hard to tell. There were also herons in the same area. It was amazing.

^ Wow! Great pictures, Deb. Birds in flight make the best captures. Very well done to both you and Gene.
