Dave, so far so good. I don't have the bird traffic you do, but it's keeping the mess off the ground and I have seen a bird of two feed in it. I may get another for the busier feeder. It's only screen/mesh, so won't last forever, but It seems to do the trick. I'm sure you can retro-fit it for your feeders if necessary. I hear you're a pretty handy guy.

Nice photo! Chipping sparrow? I'm not good with sparrow ID

You're welcome. Now, I'm waiting on the hummers. I saw that two of my close neighbors have hummer feeders out so they must pass through.

Cat birds are getting nasty...fighting the Orioles for the grape jelly.

I should try to see if I can attract the Orioles. We saw some not far from the house the other day. I ordered a second seed catcher. I'm going to put it on my busiest feeder and see if it still stays busy, or if it scares the birds off. They seem to find a way in on the other feeder, but it's not a very active feeder.

I pretty much use only sunflowers seeds, but a while back I bought a mix that went over well. Sunflowers, safflower, nuts and cherries. That feed use to disappear quickly. I have two feeders in the same area and it's the sunflower feeder that I keep having to re-fill. I've checked the other feeder and the seed is fine, not clumping or wet. I probably won't bother to buy any more of that seed, even though I felt it was a special "treat" I don't think the birds feel the same any longer.

Go for it. As you can see my free bent coat hanger one is just as popular, maybe more so, than the original. Here's another crappy picture (I need to use a tripod or have a couple drinks first when using the maximum zoom).

I love the internet! I wouldn't know otherwise. I need to find out which bird chirps, "Rick ee!" I've read that it's the Western Meadowlark but I haven't seen the bird when I hear the noise.
