The residents of Colorado’s forested neighborhoods are keen on giving them a plentiful food source along with what nature provides. Close to your home, If you travel into Estes Park, Evergreen, or Allenspark’s private neighborhoods in mid-summer you’ll witness them in vast numbers.
I'll keep my fingers crossed. I just hung up my new feeder.

Bats. They aren't birds but they fly. I watched them after sunset tonight. They're quite large in Colorado.

Love bats...in a house I had years ago, they would swoop down around the back deck in the evening. There were two I named Dingbat and Dongbat.

Good luck, Patricia!

Hummingbirds are active. I've seen two at once. Never sure how many we have. Other birds are busy at the feeders as well.
Back to a topic discussed last summer and fall..........the rodent problem. I had lunch with a former co worker yesterday. His son is on the board of health in our town and I guess a few folks were experiencing rodent problem. His advice, stop feeding the birds. My little seed catchers did not survive the winter. I ordered one of these yesterday and hope I can make it work. I haven't seen any rodent activity yet..........

As I remember Colorado State University (CSU) conducted a “Big Brown Bat” study several years back. The bat numbers were increasing in the Fort Collins area for reasons unknown and CSU was selected to investigate the cause. Don’t know the results of the study.

Nice, Dave. How often do you switch out the oranges? I'd love to see one of these hanging around my yard.....I'll swap you one rodent, or even two for one of the Orioles!
