Our Towhee's are strictly ground feeders, as they like to skirt about underneath low bushes and hedges. I've tried the suet blocks with very little success with the Woodpecker species, they prefer the feeder filled with peanuts/sunflower hearts. Maybe they are just spoiled now and refuse the suet.
The one we had here, was at the safflower feeder....
Male just stopped by...not enough light for even a half way decent photo. Tomorrow isn't looking much better...more rain, but at least it's not snow...
Sadly, we heard a huge bang on the window this afternoon. Looked out and found a beautiful female cardinal like the one in your photo DOA on the ground. I put her back in the woods.
