Some peeps asked me what the specific problem is with the drive shaft. The U-joint is broken. Not sure what caused it - I drove it hard for six hours, but hey - that's what the car is for...right???!!!

I posted in the Technical Forum about it, to see if anyone else has encountered it:

Deb, sorry to hear of your problems. Because of the nature of this car and the demands I put on it this is the first car I ever got an extended warranty on. If I never use it that will be fine.

Got back from Scotland this evening to hear a message from my dealer rep saying the drive shaft has been replaced but there is also noise coming from the differential. So.......have to call him tomorrow to see what's up with that. The bill may be increasing. Let's hope the extended warranty is covering that, too. TBD...

Deb,

I'd be curious to know what, if anything, caused the Universal to go. or was it just plain wear. I'm surprised it went. I'd have expected it to give you many more miles.

^ I asked the rep that when I chatted with him and he didn't really know why. The warranty guy was there today and approved the replacement of the differential. Another week in the shop. But I'm not complaining. All will be covered. Whew...

Wow! With only 29K on it? I recently turned 56K, but have the weird howl that others have mentioned at a constant throttle at around 3,000 RPM.

I noticed a while back that when I slightly overfilled the Differential with Mobil 1 gear lube it seemed to help. So far (knock on wood) my baby has had 56K trouble free miles on her. I have done all of my own maintenance so far.

I do have one question? I looked in the shop manual and I did not see a mileage or age reference to the Serpentine Belt as far as when that should be replaced? Anyone? How did I miss that? What page is it on in the shop manual?
