We own a 2012 BMW X3. It has 136,000 miles on it, It has needed some expensive repairs and before long some more expensive repairs. We love the car and would like to keep it. I have never considered an extensive warranty. I see lots of ads on tv for them featuring celebrities and I’m sure the people who recommend them are paid to do so. Has anyone used these services and if so please let me know how it works. Thank You.

I have never purchased one Ray but from what I have heard from previously working in the auto industry is that if you are going to buy a warranty stick with a manufacturers warranty.

Another suggestion Ray is if you can’t get coverage from BMW because your vehicle is too old and have to buy from an aftermarket company talk to your mechanic and see if he or she has any experience with any of the companies.

I never bought an extended warranty on any new car since they were all Hondas. I bought my first one last month when I bought the 2025 BMW X5. I've heard too many stories about how expensive everything is on BMWs to fix and I just didn't want to have to deal with it. I also bought a maintenance plan so even oil changes and other items will be free for, I forget how long. I need to go to this dealership and ask for some paperwork because I bought the car during the CDK software crash and I don't have anything that describes my warranty or my maintenance plan. I just got the "pink slip" today from Colorado.

Ray, I looked at few of them, but by no means many.
Sort of like dental coverage. I wasn't thrilled by the premiums but a little fine reading showed some hidden caps on benefits.
there were maximum amounts for engine or transmission repairs which were pitifully low, like $7500 but also a high deductible.
I also found a cap on total lifetime benefit which was also really low.
You're paying for the whole donut but only getting coverage for the hole.

I searched and found the #1 rated extended warrant company. It is called Endurance. I have had BMWs in the past and am a member of BWW Car Club of America. I went on their website for info on this company. The reviews from owners who use them were very good and their claims were taken care of. I will be receiving an email from Endurance outlying specific coverages . Cost is not bad and is paid monthly. It covers 4 years or 75K miles. I make monthly payments for 2.5 years and the last 1.5 years are free. I talked to the owner of the business that works on both of my Bimmers. He has heard from customers that they are very good and has warned customers of other company’s that are not. I will be receiving a contract soon which outlines every component which is covered with specific part coverage. I will be taking it to my garage for the owner to review. I have 30 days to review the contract and if I want to decline it I can.

I was meaning to call you all about this .. .as I am pretty sure your car warranty has expired ....
