Nice fishing!

Was this off of Cape Hatteras?

How close did the waterspouts get to you?

Yes,
we went due east out of the Hatteras Inlet heading for the Gulf Stream and realized we were in that mess. There were five of them moving around us. Some of those shots were within a mile of the spouts.

I was with a Captain I have been out with many times, so I knew we would be OK. There was no way he was going to lose his boat. ;~)

Cool pics of the water spouts.

Question at the risk of sounding dumb. In the dock photo the fish in the back ground look like Barracudas to me. What are they?

Matt,
Those are called WAHOO, and for a good reason. There is one King Mack in that group. The Dolphin (Mahi Mahi) are always fun to catch. It is never a dumb question when asking what species of fish you are seeing. I have been fishing in that area for over 25 years and still can't identify some of what I catch. I only keep what I intend to eat, so I release many bizarre fish. Barracudas are always thrown back, but we do catch them.

Talking

When I was 16, I went to San Diego to visit my aunt. She took me deep sea fishing and I caught a barracuda.

( but I was more interested in the bait boys! )

pics...I've not done too much deep sea fishing. Went one time and caught a bunch of blue somethings (I forget what they are called - blue mackerel? - but taste great). Did more freshwater fishing down in NC when I was young - for bass and perch, mostly. Catfish were around, too, but we thought of them as trash fish then.
