Cable internet service: I had to have a high-speed connection for on call, off hours support before I retired. I've kept it since I retired. I do like to peruse the online news sites daily: CNN, MSNBC, etc.
Cable TV: channels 2-72 or something like that. No premium channels or sports packages.
Home phone land line is through cable company. We keep it because we have a monitored alarm system.
I have a prepaid-minutes flip phone; I acquired it when I was working because, over time, I became the only low-level employee with a company phone. Everyone else at my level just covered the few minutes per month as part of their personal plan. I didn't want to be 'the nail that stands out' so I got a cell phone. I probably spend $4 per month on minutes.
Contrary to popular opinion, I am not a Luddite. I just don't feel that more electronics would enhance my life in any way, especially since I no longer have to put up with Corporate America's #$%^&*().

We're not Luddites either, but we can think of no reason to invest in more electronics either. Sometimes I think about smartphones, etc., but there are other ways I'd rather entertain myself . . . like birdwatching.

I have HD tv, all of the premium channels and high speed internet from AT&T UVerse. I was paying $190/ month, but that dropped to $90/month when I became an employee. I've had xm in the S since I got it (I don't even remember what I pay for it, since it's billed and paid automatically).

We're waiting for the final episodes of Dexter, then cable goes bye-bye. We have RCN and are paying nearly $200/ month for cable and internet. That includes the extra charge for the Tivo box, a couple extra standard boxes, HD tier, premium tiers. Oddly enough, they throw in Showtime for free. All I want is Science and Food channel.
some dick moves:
-a few years ago by scrambling all basic channels which forced everybody to add boxes to every TV, rather than plugging directly into the TV.
-Science channel is a "premier" cable channel and requires an upgrade package
-the wifi adapter for the Tivo box is an extra monthly charge

^^me too. A few years ago Dexter was on a free channel. Now I pay extra for Showtime. As soon as the series is over, I'm cancelling too. The movies on Showtime aren't worth the extra money, getting worse all the time, plus repeats.
