I know alot of you live on the East coast, Its possible you could get a big hit from hurricane Earl. Things you should think about.
1. Fill all your cars to the brim with gas, drive only one if possible.
2. If you dont have a generator get one.
3.Go to Lowes and get 5, 5 gal gas cans, fill them up.
4 Go to a sporting goods store buy a Coleman gas stove and gas to go with it.
5 Stock up on food, can good's meat, bread, ect....
6 Buy as much ice as you can.
7 Bottled water, get atleast 5 case's
If this thing jogs to the west at all. it could go right up the east coast. Dont wait,
when you realize what going to happen, then its too late. you may feel like a fool
doing it and then nothing happen's. Its better to be safe than sorry. Trust me i've been there.

Thanks for the heads up.
Luckily, I'm pretty far inland and in the mountains of northern New Jersey. I expect quite a bit of rain, but nothing like the Jersey shore is likely to get. We usually don't get hit very hard, just a lot of rain.

As Earl has strengthened, the forecast track has consistently pushed farther and farther west, so that Cape Hatteras and points north are now much more at risk than they appeared to be a couple of days ago. Check out, for example, this history.
We're not concerned here in South Florida, but if I lived north of, say, South Carolina, I'd have already done what's been suggested here. HPH
