Dulles eaglet has been named Orion. Could fly at any time. Sitting on branch a lot. Here is one of the Richmond falcon chicks. A cage has been built outside the nest box so they will not fall off the building before ready to fly. Parents feed them through the bars. Pretty cool. Amazing how fast they are growing.

Orion is seriously thinking about taking off. Koda is still under the watchful eye of mom.

Koda has moved to a branch. Mom is watching from above.

Orion has made his first flight. In the nest at the moment eating. Not sure he caught it. Might be a bit early for that.

Baby falcons are not so little anymore. They are six weeks old and tomorrow the door to the cage will be opened so they can come and go. They have been flying around the cage this morning looking for a way out, so they are ready!

This is the morning the falcons get to leave the cage. They just got fed, so I expect the camera will go off soon so the automatic door opener can be installed. Then camera back on and door opens between 9 and 10. There will be spotters down below for a couple of days to monitor. Check out the Richmond falcon cam if you want to see it!

First one out of the cage…three to go! Parents are really squawking.

All have flown the coop! Last one just left the cage, 3 1/2 hours after the first. Very cool!
