Rob, I re-read your problem...try this next time you have the problem.

bring up a dos window and type the following:

nslookup
>www.s2ki.com

the response should be something like this...

Server: name of your dns server
Address: ip address of your dns server

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.s2ki.com
Address: 64.62.178.153 <--- s2ki's ip address.

This will tell you if your computer knows the address for s2ki.

Usually you can then ping the address, but some sites surpress the response.

This command will show you the route being taken to s2ki if the address is known (again from a dos prompt):

tracert www.s2ki.com

The path should end at the ip address from above for s2ki...if it ends some place else...that is where the route it being lost.

If your cannot resolve the address it could also be that your provider is having dns problems. from a dos prompt you can also type the following:

ipconfig /all

In there should be an entry for which dns server(s) you are using. Check it when your having the problem to when your not and see if it is changing.

Thanks everyone. I feel better. I will try some of what you have suggested next time this happens. If it does happen again, I'll update this thread.

Thanks again.

. . .I have the problem too on occasion. It could be DNS, or a misconfiured router, but I think most often the domain controllers at s2ki.com just get too busy to authenticate the logon. . .

I have the same problems with Firefox. I use Norton Antivirus and AdAware.
I run the same three programs. Althought sometimes the site is slow, the times it totally times out is rare.

Is it just me or are you finding things running reallllllllyyyy slooooowww today? Once this morning, right before my eyes, all the fonts changed!! I'd think it was my computer, but +1's having probs with his laptop as well, ie sites loading slow, connections not going through, etc. Maybe its the WorldWide Web.
