I guess worrying about getting a speeding ticket (and, and watching the Valentine2) probably keeps me from getting pulled over... I don't worry very much about anything really -- I have naively always felt that if something goes wrong I can fix it! I do sometimes worry when I spend too much money -- like on toys for the S and track fees and tires and brake pads and sway bars and shifters and ... also ... I get concerned sometimes when I think of what kind of future and quality of life my kids will have if current trends continue...

Oh, yeah. The house. I guess after two months here, I should clean it, too. Well, at least I clean the cat box.

I don't really have to worry about anything. Barbara takes care of that for both of us. We're really better off when some little something goes wrong than when everything's fine. She's relieved that she was right.

When things are going really well for a long time, then I start to wonder when the $hit will hit the fan. It's been a long time since things were going really well for me, for a long time, though. I'm just getting back into that.

there is a difference between worry and concern.
at the moment I am concerned about future income until I regain employment.
if nothing pops up by the august time frame that may turn into worry.

That concerns me too.

I'm not too worried about all of us, we'll survive. We've gotten this far and for the most part we're all pretty much established. Some of us are better off, some of us are worse off, but for the most part we'll weather the storm.

It's the kids that I'm worried about. My sons and all the members of the generation now in their teens. They're just starting out in life and they have a long way to go. I'm not sure we're doing a very good job of leaving them a future. We certainly aren't leaving them a future that looks as bright as the future that was left to us.

I hope for a bright future for all of them. I'd like them to be better off than we were. It's the natural order of things. But right now I'm concerned.

I think it's quite possible our worries as parents aren't anything new.

In the 60's and 70's Vietnam was a huge issue. In the 60's we had racial issues, in the latter part of the 70's we had the oils shortages.

I guess what I'm saying is that there is always something going on in the world which leaves parents wondering what kind of world our children and grandchildren will be living in, yet somehow, each generation finds their own way and survives just fine.

That's probably true. Thinking about it, I guess my parents were as concerned about the future of the world that they were leaving us and we are about the future of the world we are leaving for out kids.
Perhaps we should be putting an emphasis on trade schools so the next generation can be the plumbers, carpenters, and electricians in India, China, and Mexico.
