Default Do you wash your own car?

I've always washed my own cars, to keep them from getting scratched and because I'm cheap.

Now, at the decidedly vintage age of 68, I don't really look forward to washing the S every week, let alone my wife's CR-V.

What do you folks do?

Rick is a car washing fool. Constantly cars.

The S gets washed at LEAST once a week. If he has time, my Jeep and his Jeep demo also get washed. In between, he'll clean my Mom's car too.

The only "shortcut" he will take with the S is one of the "spray it yourself" car washes, but generally only if we are on the road.

My Jeep will get run though an automatic car wash, only in winter.

PS you've got a few years on us. This car washing obsession may change soon.

Also at the vintage age of 68, I too do not look forward to washing the cars. However, like any investment it pays to manage your holdings well and in the case of the S2 it demands weekly attention. The small satisfaction is that it has relatively less surface to maintain than many vehicles I have cared for in the past. By the way, how many of you take the time to chamoise the surfaces dry including opening the trunk, the hood, the doors and gas cap?

I am one month away from 69 and I find that my energy is waning. I do a hands on wash about 3 times a month. The other times I use the magic wand. My S stays in the garage when not in use. I also avoid getting out on rainy days.

I do - but them I'm at the lower end of the Vintage scale - 42.

I'm 48 but washing the S2000s is like dessert to me. I reward myself for doing other stuff I hate doing, by getting to wash the Ss. They don't get washed too often, especially Andy's, since he hardly ever drives it and it's covered. I wash mine on an average of once every three weeks druing the dry weather.

Took mine to the car wash every week. Used brushes on the side and fabric that hung down cleaned the hood, roof, and truck. Never an issue in 5 1/2 years. No scratches or swirls in the paint or damage to the top.
Wish I could do the same with my C6 but either the tires are too wide or it sits too low. So its a hand wash every weekend.

I think the last time I even washed the gas cap area was three or four years ago. Not too big on chamoise drying it!

I do what you do for exactly the same reasons.
