[QUOTE=valentine,Dec 31 2004, 09:22 PM] I found my good friend, Mr. Black Jack Daniels hiding in the pantry.

We never liked going out for New Year's Eve, preferring a nice fire, some good chocolate, and a selection of books and magazines.

Everyone,

We wish all of you a healthy and happy New Year and all the best in 2005.

Somehow, for most of us Vintage folks it will not seem like New Year's Eve without Dick Clark.

Plant Pixie and I will spend a quiet evening at home this year.

For many years we spent New Year's Eve with some friends of ours, we would ring in the new year with champagne and their jacuzzi. Spend the night, and then have a nice brunch on New Year's Day while watching the Rose Bowl Parade. But they divorced several years ago. He had always had a beard for as long as we have known him. He went up to take a shower after brunch and came down clean shaven. Her jaw dropped. We found out a few days latter that she had always told him that if he ever wanted a divorce all he had to do was shave off his beard. That was his new year's resolution.

Besides New Year's celebrations being over priced and disappointing. The thing that I dislike is starting tomorrow until about the end of March is the constant bombardment of ads for diet plans and health clubs!

Have to be the dissenter here... I LOVE New Year's Eve.

Up until last year I was playing gigs on New Year's Eve for the last 10 years or so. This year we'll be going to a party with a bunch of PacNW S2000 friends and others.

I'm happy not to be working and looking forward to a big loud boozy celebration and smooching with my wifey at midnight

We always have spent New Years Eve day preparing a number of traditional Dutch food treats that are only made on this day, and then the evening is spent with the extended family playing board games with the kids before midnight, and shooting pool and playing penny-ante poker after midnight.

That said, Hilly and I are both down for the last week with serious colds, and so we will be spending a quiet evening together by ourselves. Don't want to spread it to the rest of the family.

Happy New Year everyone!!!

I hate going out New Years Eve. One big happy ripoff. Same food you got yesterday or tomorrow for twice the price and a long wait. Amateur drunks spilling cheap sparkling wine on your shoes. No thanks. We haven't done it in years and it's just fine by me. Bah humbug
