Default Do you really enjoy going out on New Year's Eve

About 25 years ago Liz and I decided that going out on New Year's Eve wasn't really that much fun. We found that we usually paid more for bad food and terrible service. If we'd go to a restaurant we found that the wait staff resented having to work, the food was poorly prepared and all in all it was a bad experience that we were supposed to accept all in the name of New Year's Eve.

We started staying home on New Year's Eve, and going out the next day instead. We found that to be much more enjoyable.

We've stuck to that tradition since, and we've come to really like it. We look forward to New Year's Day much more than New Year's Eve.

How about you?

we do the same thing, however, I've now added to my NYE handwringing and worrying that my daughter gets home safe from her night out.

Our normal thing is to be at the desert on New Year's Eve with family and friends, camping and riding our dirt bikes for a few days. It has gotten to be that a little too many people are doing the same thing for our taste, becoming annoying. This is the first year we are staying home, I think, since we got married. We are going to go to the 4:40 PM showing of the Aviator and then stay home afterwards.

As usual, we will be safe at home all evening. We typically do not even stay up until midnight.

Agree with Rob on this one. I've spent too many New Years Eve's in overcrowded restaurants, waiting an hour past my reservation time. Not to mention the amateur drunks on the road.

Yea, I would certainly rather be out there on the road with only the professional drunks.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Anyway, to answer the question, no, we don't enjoy crowds any time of the year.

Happy New year all!

We usually (and will this evening) go to a friend's house, though staying home would be just fine with me.

We don't care to go out to eat either as we don't care to fight crowds for lousy, overpriced food.

Unless I get some diet Coke with caffeine, I'm not sure I'll make it until midnight tonight!

I had a full day with the granddaughter and I'm ready for a nap!

We usually go out to a local restaurant for an early dinner and then we would have friends over.

This year we have a wedding to go to on New Years Day (Bride's sister is being sent to Iraq so the wedding was moved up), so we will spend a quiet evening home tonite.

I know, it was an easy setup.

We're off to our neighbors for some holiday cheer.

I'll be cheering the holiday here at home -- I found my good friend, Mr. Black Jack Daniels hiding in the pantry.
