I can think of two that I've purchased more than twice, as the preferred media changed over time: Tommy by The Who and Endless Summer by The Beach Boys.

I'll bite. As opposed to what? Bootleg copies or radio? We still go on CD buying binges -- mostly trying to rebuild the collection and duplicate old stuff that was either lost or taken away by the grimlins at some point.

Ever wonder why it costs $90+ to see a well-known act nowadays?

Instead of stealing the material?

I work for a SW company and I don't understand why people who would not ever consider stealing a candy bar don't think that there is something wrong with buying bootleg materials or making illegal copies.

I have three or four different digital remasterings of Dark Side Of The Moon including SACD and multichannel formats.
SACD and multichannel formats? Dean: Would you care to translate this into "Lay person" English for the masses to understand what you mean?

Only law abiding citizens (I Guess).

To some extent, I think that there is a paradox here. Because of sites like the former Napster, etc. Some people stopped buying music in the form of CD's. Because of that the recording companies raised their prices to recoup the lost profits. Because most people know that a CD only costs the record companies less than a dollar to produce a CD (People forget about the artist trying to make a living, as well as all of the other associated expenses involved). The cost of a CD at retail can approach $20.00 or more.

On the other hand, some box sets have become very expensive and in many cases the record companies have already made millions over the years by selling records and CD's of famous groups such as The Beatles and The Eagles, Steely Dan etc. In some cases, I think that they are getting a bit greedy. By charging prices that sometimes approach triple digits. Therefore, making it easier for people to justify (in their own minds) downloading boot legged music.

We were recently in "The City of Brotherly Love" (Philadelphia) and spent a very enjoyable evening at Chris' Jazz Club on Sanson Street. After paying the fifteen dollar per person cover charge we liked the group so much we purchased their CD. Which Mr. Weaver was kind enough to autograph for us.

I have to agree with Pok's (Jim's) analogy about stealing candy bars. I guess that some of the same people that are bootlegging music also are the same people that look at the illegal immigration issue and ask the question: What part of illegal, do you not understand?

That is my .02
