I inadvertently forgot to uncheck the Amazon Prime trial on a recent order. So I have a trial now. I've never needed immediate shipping and just about everything I've ever ordered from them arrives, under the free shipping category (5-8 days?) within two anyway. I know there's at least 2 or 3 distribution centers locally - that's probably the reason. I don't stream music and get enough TV stuff from what I already have.

Anyway, my TV also took a big shit last weekend. The new one is smart and connected and has apps for all kinds of things. One is Amazon Video, so Cindy and I clicked to see. Saw GT on there. I'm not sure how they can make a 70 or so minute show move any slower. They had the formula when it was first on and this is like some completely different show. Conversation street - kill that 4 minutes. Celebrity Brainsmash - I'll take that 5 minutes back please.

Go drive expensive cars and do stupid things... I think we're up to about S1 Ep 6 now?

We've also been watching the Amazing Mrs. Maisel. Was recommended by someone at work. Also a bit slow at points, but Cindy enjoys it. Curious to see where it goes.

On a side note, with original programming on subscription channels, it seems like there's more and more 1 hour shows that are, well, 1 hour. Does anyone else get the feeling that each episode is nearing short movie length? Does that changes your viewing habits (when/where/how)? The 30 minute (22 mins) sitcom is a nice break during the night, a 60 min (60) show seems like a commitment.

We do not watch any tv shows live. Its no big deal to tape one day and play the next. 60 min shows are easily cut down to 40 min by taping and fast-forwarding thru ads. With Comcast, bless their over priced souls, its easy to set up any series, or sport team's team schedule to automatically tape.

Agreed for traditional stations. For the subscription channels (maybe the wrong word)- but original programming on Netflix, Youtube, Amazon, etc... there are no commercials (that I've seen yet). So, it is all on demand viewing for those... it was the difference between a 30 minute (with ff: 20-22 mins) to a full hour.

Dave, you do realize there is no actual tape, magnetic or otherwise, inside that "tape" machine. Although there might be a hard drive. (Just ribbing you about the use of the word "tape" but serious about the hard drive.)

We also record the few shows we want to watch so we can skip the commercials. I've even taken to recording sporting events. I will start watching them 30 or 40 minutes after they start so I can skip the commercials but still see the finish before someone spoils the final results over social media or elsewhere.

I recently became a Netflix junky. So far i have binge watched:

Stranger Things
Mind Hunters
Dare Devil
Jessica Jones

Dare Devil and Jessica Jones are Marvel characters. The Marvel "Street" character shows have been great. I am starting Luke Cage and will then move on to The Defenders and The Punisher.

Highly recommend "FOYLE'S WAR".

British mystery series that ran for 8 years. It ended in 2015.

Outstanding on many levels: writing, plot, acting, imagery and authenticity. Takes place in WW2 England. Filmed mainly on Britain's south coast. Main characters are played by Michael Kitchen and Honeysuckle Weeks, and both do incredible jobs.

The full DVD box set contains 28 discs (2 hour shows). If you watch the DVDs, make sure to watch the extras, especially the ones that pertain to the episode you are about to watch.

I don't think it is on Amazon.... not sure about Netflix (we don't do either). We were really bummed when we knew we'd watched the last disc (it is THAT good!).

LB, I would not have picked you as a Marvel fan.

I've gotten hooked on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. since the beginning. Really like the Clark Greg's portrayal of Phil Coulson, dating back to his appearance in Iron Man 2. The series has gone a little off the rails lately but I can't help myself.

My favorite Marvel character so far: Deadpool.

The boss and I have adopted two shows ( about all we can handle) - Blindspot and she likes " The Good Doctor". We hope "Elementary" comes back.

Somebody mentioned "unbelievable", I agree but TV action shows have turned into high speed, intense Marvel Comics .I'm not a gun guy, but I love how the Blindspot FBI agents easily gun down teams of Baddies with machine guns using only their 9mm pistols. Hopalong Cassidy is smiling from above.

I like to watch MSNBC if it's funnier than the ever present Seinfeld reruns

Ann Curry has a good series on now called We'll Meet Again. It's about people looking for those who have been important in their lives. Last night's episode was about the Amerasian and Vietnamese children in Vietnam after the war.

Deadpool was great and I'm not sure they will be able to equal that in the sequel. My favorites are Guardians of the Galaxy. Not quite as course as Deadpool, but all the characters are very flawed. I'm really looking forward to Infinity War this spring or summer, whenever it comes out. Back to the Marvel TV offerings, I guess nobody besides me cared for Inhumans. I thought it was great. I tried to get into Sheild, but could not.
