Just watched "Jesse" about Jesse Owens and the 1936 Olympics. I enjoyed it. Such different times. Bad things happening in Germany with worse things to come. Jesse's wins in Berlin were not even acknowledged by the White House. It was President Barack Obama who welcomed to the White House relatives of Jesse Owens and America's 17 other black athletes from the 1936 Olympics .

Different times for sure.

I am watching Monsieur Spade on Netflix, a series about detective Sam Spade who has retired to a small town in southern France; it's 1963, the war has ended, and soon his tranquility will end. One reviewer summed it up – “First off, if you're not into plot-driven shows, particularly with a British or European "feel," you'll think this is slow. If you love plot-driven period pieces and you enjoy British / European dramas and mysteries, you'll love this.” I’ve watched two episodes and am looking forward to the next.

I posted about this awhile back in the T.V. thread I’m assuming it is the same series, Clive Owen plays Sam Spade? I watched it on the AMC channel and enjoyed it.

I watched Masters of the Air on Appletv+. I read the book and the series came close to what those brave Air Boys sacrificed and suffered while trying to defeat the Nazis in WWII.

I am finding this story so disjointed it seems impossible to follow. Thankfully I've only two more episodes to go.

Over the past week we've watched a few movies on Netflix.

The Union - it was ok, but not my kind of movie - way too much fake fighting for me.

Rustin - A very good movie about the background and planning behind the black's 1963 march on Washington.

The Scoop - this was a very good British movie about securing UK's Prince Andrew's interview about his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

After watching the final two, I would rate it as a * out of ***. A waste of time.

Glad you posted that Dave as I found it to be difficult to remember the status of some of the characters and found myself rewinding it a bit and also reading recap episode articles online. I thought it was just me being dense lol.
