Hallmark has its Biltmore at Christmas movie on tonight, I wouldn't say it is a good movie, but we visited Biltmore a few years back and it is very cool to see it on television decorated for Christmas. I think that is the best place in the world for my wife who is crazy about Christmas decorating lol, she has been waiting many weeks for this movie to come out.

We'd like to go back and visit Biltmore around the holiday period some day, when we were there last time it was mid-summer, it was an amazing estate, we loved it.

We spent several days in Asheville, 10 years ago, and I could not recall if we went to the Biltmore. I guess we decided it was a waste of money. According to these well traveled people they agreed.

Oh I would disagree, I don't remember what it cost to enter but it is a beautiful estate, no complaints from us. It seems like those people complain about the cost of things, I drove 600 miles to get there so I wasn't about to worry about costs, and I knew the entry fee before I put it on my itinerary.

You can walk through it at your own pace, we were there in summer and you get a beautiful view of the mountain region from the huge balconies and patios. We ate on the estate which was good, they have a hotel there too. I know the hotel is pricey, but we got a chain hotel just outside the gates. They have a summer concert series there which is really cool watching concerts on the big open air lawn. We drove through the grounds in early evening and there were millions of fireflies that night, it was very cool I would go back any time. If you don't enter the building you can stroll the estate. It is a beautiful place.

Oppenheimer-A good movie if not a bit too long and a bit confusing. The use of flashbacks generally helps to tell a story, but in this case they seem to overlap and confuse the issue rather than to help to define it. Characters come and go without as much development or definition as I'd like. Still, the movie tells a good and important story. If you have three hours to spare see this movie, but see Killers of the Flower Moon first. Its the better of the two.

Yes, it is gory but it is an excellent series. It, together with "Band of Brothers" tells the story of World War II the way it needs to be told. This is not a John Wayne western where the hero gets the glory and the pretty girl. This is war in all of its bloody horror.

We were in that area about two years ago. The Biltmore was on the "maybe" list. We have seen/toured most of the mansions in Newport, RI. They may not be as grand as the Biltmore, but you quickly get the feel of mansions. Given that I enjoy photography, and flowers and gardens we decided we'd purchase a ticket for the gardens and skip the mansion tour. However, it had to be purchased in advance and the weather wasn't looking great. We passed on it. We found other things to do to entertain ourselves while in the area.

We enjoyed the tour, the size of the many fireplace mantles and hearths was amazing to see, along with the bowling alley. I haven't been to many mansions in my life, only two. This one took the cake, more of a castle than just a big house. When I was in Cuba I was at the Dupont mansion/house. That was a stunning home owned by the famous Dupont family (before Castro evicted them lol), I enjoyed touring that mansion too.

We have the Meadowbrook Mansion in Rochester Hills. I enjoyed it. The room with the pool table, etc. is what I remember the most. And the great concours car shows on the lawn. The house tour I enjoyed the most was Falling Waters.

We watched A Walk in the Woods. Donna had read the book and wanted to see it. On a scale of 3 with both gave it a 2.
