Don't forget that the on-off button has to be held in for 5 seconds on some computers. That always confuses my mother. HPH
She has the same button on hers I believe. I'm glad she enjoys her computer. She used to say she retired just in time, as they were getting computers in her office.

I never would have thought she would enjoy the computer as much as she does, learning something new is good at any age.

My parents, about 80, both have computers, plus they set up a room with computer furniture to use them in. My mother, though, is still stuck on Win98, because of some legacy software issues. A big project they're involved is scanning all of the family slide picture archive. At least the result will be more compact than the original.

I guess it beats shuffleboard. HPH

My mom has really disappointed me in that I bought her a nice computer, set her up with the internet, etc. and she hasn't done a thing with it. It really bums me out, but apparently she's on the go with her new boyfriend (hmmm -- interactive play I suppose) and has some other guy calling her all the time. I hope I'm as much a "hot property" when I get her age as she apparently is.

I had no Internet service this morning before I left for work. I thought it was most likely a temporary service outage. I still couldn't get to the net when I got home so I reset the cable modem and router and now it's all . I wish I could find a similar method to reset me.

I know what where you're coming from. We got my Mom moved in next door to "keep an eye on her". I got her a laptop and a wireless range extender so she could use my connection and not have to pay for Internet service. But I don't think she uses it more than an hour or so a week. She's busy teaching a dance class with her current boyfriend and fending off various other potential suitors.

I think it may have something to do with the inevitable thinning of the herd. God grant that we're all that active at her age.

Excellent troubleshooting methodology! That's usually the best place to start.
I wish I could take credit for it. I'm a dumb butt when it comes to computers. My husband told me to do it on Tuesday morning, after we wiggled wires on Monday night and couldn't get it to work.
