My first "knee jerk" reaction: If it works, like the "Chaparral", Granitelli's Turbine Indy car, or Yamaha's TZ750 Flat Tracker, it will be banned by the sanctioning body.

looks like it was a pace lap speed which is no surprise; what they were looking for was the 4-days of testing after the crowd went home.

I have been struggling to figure out why this would be a desirable set up.
The only thing I can come up with is reduced frontal area.
The vehicle dynamics otherwise just don't add up in my head.
