Lousy way to spend the summer, Dean.
On the upside, at least it happened at a time when I'm usually not working much anyway. This would have been a near disaster if this had happened during the fall or spring semester.

Okay, that means spelling counts again.

True, but this kind of stuff screws up the "fun in the summer."

The trick is to fall/get hurt at work, let them pick up the medical bills, AND pay you while you watch lousy daytime TV.

Come on, Dean, leg goes in a leaf bag and Martha gets the garden hose. Keep it simple. Get well soon.

Still wishing all of our walking/sitting wounded a speedy recovery, no matter how long it takes.

I won't be doing the Hokey Pokey anytime soon. The leg is stiff and sore. I can't bend my knee more than about 32 degrees and I'm limited to putting no more than 25 lbs. of weight on it.
Other than that, life's just peachy.
Are you done with the surgery, or will there be follow up? I remember my brother actually had to have a pin removed after his bones mended.

No, I don't think I can, and I'm not supposed to try. Though it comes up OK when I use the pulleys for passive exercise. No high fives allowed. No movement above the shoulder. I reached up to about mid chest today and didn't go any further. No reaching behind the back, (don't think the arm would go that way right now). No lifting anything more than 1/2 pound.

I am amazed at the stiffness in the arm and the lack of movement caused by the use of the sling and the surgery. Guess I was naive. The PT says the shoulder has been "insulted" by the surgical procedure. I think the shoulder is plain Pi$$ed off!

Much of the recovery depends on the injury/surgery. The doc says recovery is six months, though most gain decent mobility before then. Full recovery can be a year +
Hmmm. I guess I don't want that surgery then. Are you still taking the tylenol.

Are you in need of the surgery? It was not that bad, I was kept quite comfortable, however it is a long time for full recovery. Better to have it done in the winter than miss some of the activity/fun of the summer. If you have shoulder issues that are bothersome, the end result should be worth it. I had the kind of tear that PT and time would do nothing for.

I take occasional Tylenol or Advil. Have rarely needed anything stronger than that in the last couple weeks.

How do you know you are only putting 25 pounds of weight on it....??? Is that just a little bit of leaning on it while using the walker?
