It was on this date in 1958 that I received an honorable discharge from the US Air Force.

I served 4 years in radar from New York to Mississippi to Missouri to Manitoba Canada to Charleston SC.

Looking back on that experience, I feel an enormous sense of pride and at the same time, I can hardly believe it has been so long ago.

Just thought I would mention it here as I know there are those here who have had that experience and feel the same as I do.

That was a long time ago! My dad (93) retired from the USMC in the mid 60s after 26 years, and the +1 (about to hit the big 5-0) from the Navy in 2006 after the same. They both definitely feel a sense of pride at having served and loved their time in the service. The +1 still would like to be driving a boat (submarine).

I received my discharge in 1970. I also look back on my experience in the Air Force very favorably.

Gee Mr Guano, I was about 10 years behind you. After almost a year at Keesler AFB, Mississippi, I spent 1964 thru 1967 at Joplin Bomb Plot in Missouri with occassional TDY tours all over the midwest.

I spent 6 weeks at Keesler than was shipped to the 790th AC&W Radar Squadron. Kirksville Mo. was one dead place to be.

Served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1968 and received my Honorable Discharge. Looking back it was a great experience and helped shape my life. Thanks for serving to all of the vets.
