Last week I was invited to facebook technical conference for next week.
The content looked mildly interesting and wouldn't be a bad opportunity to get out of my domain focus.
It also could be a good networking opportunity since you never know how things go.
I accepted the invite and hit add to calendar.

I was double checking my calendar this morning and realized the meeting doesn't start until 9:00 PM and goes 'til midnite.
and it's an hour from home......


hmmmm that's way past my bedtime.

That does seem awful late for a meeting, especially for those that have to work the next day. I'd probably fall asleep at the meeting or worse yet during the trip home.

I recently resigned from a board of directors, in part for this very reason. Some members of the board wanted meetings to start at 8:00 or 9:00 PM so they could go home after work, have dinner with their families, kiss the children goodnight, and then call in to the meeting. Others seemed willing to accommodate their schedules. I decided to accommodate mine.

I guess where I draw the line is doing work and/or conferences that start at this late hour. If you told me you didn't want to go to a concert that started at 9:00 PM, that would be different.

Remember college? Lots of stuff started (and still starts) at 2100 (9:00 PM). Lodge meetings (pick any one you want) typically start at 8:00 PM.

I hate 7:30 kickoff USC football games in the Coliseum. We don't get home until around midnight. I'm too old for that crap!
