Coyote caused death of singer in Nova Scotia
OMG sad story, and we were just there! According to the news on TV it happened on the Skyline Trail. Pics of that trail have been posted by pas2k and me.
Young singer dies in Nova Scotia Park
A Canadian woman has died after being set upon by two coyotes while she was hiking alone in a national park in eastern Canada, authorities said.
The victim was identified as Taylor Mitchell, 19, a promising singer-songwriter from Toronto who was touring her new album on the East Coast.
She was hiking solo on a trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park in Nova Scotia on Tuesday when the attack occurred. She was airlifted to a Halifax hospital in critical condition and died on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

While I agree this is very sad I am always amazed the head lines that a Coyote attack gets and the 3 million or so dog bites / attacks every year get very little if any coverage.
Where I live in Texas is very rural and we have lots of Coyotes in our area. There have not been any attacks on people but, small pets have gone missing. I don't blame the Coyote (I blame the owner for not fencing the yard) as they can't tell the difference between a Jack and a Lasha. A snack is a snack.

Sad but wierd. I'm pretty sure I could kick the crap out of a coyote, probably even two but I'm a pretty good sized guy. I wouldn't expect any coyote to stick around if you got agressive with it.

Hiking alone = never a wise idea
Probably less dangerous than driving down the highway alone. After all, if you get sleepy or distracted while hiking, it rarely kills you.
