Default Cost of living

I am not sure if this will survive outside of politics or not, but...

The cost of living seems to be skyrocketing out of sight.

Gas is well over $3.50, the price of heating oil is nearing $4.00.
I went to the supremarket today and was floored at the price of dairy, eggs, produce and fish. The only thing that seemed to be level in pricing is soda...go figure. Cleaning supplies and paper goods are up.
I went to the butcher last week and the price of meat has gone way up.

Please understand that I do all of the shopping and have for the past 7-8 years, so I really do have a bit of a grasp on pricing, and it does seem to have spiked in the past 3-6 months.

Is anyone else seeing this, or am I crazy (okay I am crazy, but that's beside the point).

Is it impacting your lifestyle?
(Sorry for the rant).

I'm on an Exxon Mobil diet, all my food money goes into the gas tank.

And no, you're not crazy, it's ridiculous down here, especially for folks with children to feed. I figured this would be a good time to go vegetarian but even the veggies are way through the roof.

we locked our oil in for the year last fall so fortunately we've been isolated from the oil increase so far.
That ends on the first of may.

Well if the cost is going up, I guess it won't matter that the mainstream media is now pushing the "there is a food shortage in the US' angle. We won't be able to buy as much and that will leave more food for others to spend more money on, right.

O.K. maybe not, but it sounded like a solution.

I haven't noticed an increase, but then Mrs. GM3 pays for the groceries while I pay for Costco each month.

Has anyone notice the cut in the size of the packages? Not only have prices gone up but the packages have gotten smaller.

The latest one that I noticed is the 3 lb. can of coffee is now down to a 34 ounce plastic container. (Last year it was 39 ounces) Any of you old enough to remember when it did weigh 48 ounces?

furthermore farm equipment requires fuel, packing plants require fuel, as fuel costs soar so does the price of EVERYTHING. Yes, Zippy, Jim and I are appalled at what it costs to feed ourselves and I've done most of our cooking at home for years. I've also noticed that packaged products have become smaller and pricing higher. Taxes on our real estate and personal property have increased as well. The cost of living is climbing at an unbelievable pace.

My and I were talking about this yesterday. The price of electronics is the only thing I can think of that is coming down. Computers, TVs, cameras, etc. But otherwise, yeah, it's crazy!
