Come on folks.... just wanting opinions/comments/suggestions from people who carry.... not looking for smart ass remarks......

Please keep the stupid comments to yourself....

Just looking to help myself and family to be safe..... this is not a political thread..... or how you feel about guns....

Holsters. Some point out you can have on the waistband or inside the waistband. There are also pocket holsters (should not have it loose in the pocket-too many chances of accidental discharge and all that dirt gets in the weapon) I have a $11 Wal Mart one that works just fine. There are a bunch of shirts, backpacks, fanny packs, ankle holsters that are available too. I use the fanny pack/fishing pack when I am backpacking/fishing in the great outdoors. Not so much for people but for the mountain lions we have. I have come face to face with one that was looking at me like lunch and I had nothing but strong language. Never again!

I have had this one holster by Smart Carry for over 10 years. It is the most comfortable one I have ever used. I can even wear it with nylon gym shorts and you would never know I was packing. It does not point at your privates. It is easy to get around using the restroom for 1 or 2. You don't need to remove anything for that. To draw, you just pull out on your pants with support hand and grasp the weapon with your strong hand.

I have worn this literally all day long including driving all day long and I almost forget I have it.

I would like to add I personally know 7 individuals (2 were LEOs) who unexpectedly found themselves in a situation that having a firearm saved them from being victims of a crime/murder. In 2 of those cases were shots fired resulting in the death of the attacker/perpetrator. These were not wahoos looking for trouble or in "bad areas". They are all educated, intelligent folks who simply see personal firearms as emergency equipment and found themselves suddenly in an extremis situation. No way could they call 911.

Jim, That holster works well with your Glock 27? Think it'll work with a slightly larger gun, like a CZ75?

Much thanks!

Glock 42 (.380) and Sig P938 (9 mm) are nice and comfortable for me. I currently have Alien Holsters for both, and an extra Desantis Super Fly pocket holster for the Glock. Really depends on the pants im wearing.

I would recommend finding a range that rents guns, so that you can shoot a decent amount of ammo to get a feel for it. Reason being, i shot the Ruger LCP and it killed my knuckles after only 100 rds... fell in love with the Glock. Although i wish the 43 model was around when i got the 42, as the 43 is a 9mm. If i wanted another one for concealment id check out the Kahr or the mod 2 Springfield compact.

I carry a Springfield 9mm XDS, in a Stealthgear IWB holster. When that's not possible, a Ruger 380 LCP in a pocket holster.

Good choice. I only went with the 45 due to the different handle and I have 2 1911's in 45 and really like the round. I keep getting really tempted by the prices of the 9mm to add that to the collection as well.

That is a good choice and the price makes it even better. The reviews on that pistol are good also.
