In general,

OTOH, did you ever notice how...in the articles on new buildings and corp HQ's....the architect never gets credit?

See...it even happens with

Just don't make me Director of IT - I know nothing about installing LANs. I'm a software person. Plus, by the time we do this, I probably won't want to be directing anything! Well, maybe just a little thing...

Ok, we can try to reproduce Watkins Glen, as long as we don't blow the budget trying to reproduce the elevation changes. The Paddocks can be one of those huge steel buildings I see advertised in the back or Road and Track. They don't cost much.

Track cost and maintenance could be high. I would want lots of run-off space at the turns, using gravel to slow cars down as opposed to Armco barriers right at the corners.

You guys realize that liability issues will kill this idea. The lawyers (sorry Bill) and insurance companies would never let this fly. Nice dream though.

P.S. I agree with Perk. Don't put me down for anything related to I.T. I'd be happy to paint the paddock or mow the infield though.

Is there any way we could be self-insured or something like that? Not that I know anything about it...You know, get our own group policy which limits liability for track accidents or whatever.

Carmen - do you know anything about this raceway (Beaver Run) where they are going to have racing at next year's FC? Supposedly it's one hour southeast (?) of Cleveland.

I have not put my beloved S on a track so I have not been there. Some of the other folks have and say it is nice. It's relatively new so pavement is supposedly good. PAS2KNut (Jim) from Pittsburgh may have been to Beaver Run. You might check with him.

Lawyers won't kill it. It will just be an issue of personal responsibility. In other words, race at your own risk. We sign an agreement as part of the buy-in that we hold the association harmless and use the track at our own risk. The possible issues arise if we open to outsiders. That will require releases and a liability policy, but race tracks have that now.

Of course, we will have to have some type of security and course workers to insure that no kids or neighbors run out on the track...
