One of my selfish gifts to myself arrived the other day. I ordered a pocket Canon camera to replace my old worn out pocket cam. It'll take me a while to figure out how to use it, but I love the size. It is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket and very slim. Has wayyy more features than I'll ever use but so far I like it. I've taken several pictures of my feet and each one is better than the last. (Those were the accidental clicks)

Maybe I'll figure out how to use it to take pictures of my other selfish gift to myself, the uber wonderful espresso machine.

Feet pics are good, Val.

Be sure to polish your toes!

Enjoy the new camera!

The ones I took were a bit less lovely. One of them was of my feet propped up on my desk.

I've been a greedy girl. I recieved my Photoshop CS4 program in the mail (unopened still), my new Dell computer (still in the boxes), a new Canon 40D and two fine lenses (thanks to zzziippyyy's recomendations) and now I have a new "L" shaped desk coming tomorrow, to use with it all.

Anyone need an oak roll-top desk, with a 3-door glass cabinet and and oak 4-drawer filing cabinet that matches? It's going in the garage until I can sell it.

Patty -- Get the Dell set up, running smoothly, fully updated (Microsoft Update), rock solid before installing Photoshop. Then make sure nothing else (no anti-virus or firewalls, so unplug the network, and nothing else) is running when you start the installation. And schedule plenty of time for it.

Maybe installing Photoshop by itself is easier than the full CS4, but it'll still be an adventure, I expect. HPH

^Crap. I have had the computer for over a week but I don't even want to tackle it. My son made me order it on Thanksgiving and promised to come set it all up for me. He is supposed to be here late tomorrow night for a Thursday set-up. With Vista now, I'm worried that the whole thing will be a fiasco.

Thanks for the info. I'll pass it on. You aren't saying that I shouldn't have an anti-virus installed, are you, before loading CS4?

No, go ahead and get the computer set up, running smoothly (including a firewall and anti-virus program (with anti-whatever-else it comes with) and other utilities). But then unplug it from the network and turn all that stuff off temporarily before the Photoshop install. When Photoshop is working, you can turn it all back on and re-connect to the network. In fact, Photoshop will probably demand a network connection for registration, eventually.

My experience installing the full CS4 package was that, like Garbo, it wants to be alone -- with your computer, the poor sensitive thing. HPH

...And don't worry about Vista. It's fine. It'll drive you crazy until you get used to it, but it's fine.

Get your son to set it up with "Classic Windows View" options wherever they are available, and it'll be an easier transition. HPH
