Last month I purchased a set of tire pressure monitor valve caps from autoanything.com. So far, they're working perfectly as I've been double checking with a tire gauge every week.

You simply inflate the tires to the proper pressure and install the monitor valve caps. Normally, the top of the cap is green. If the pressure drops 3 psi, a red flag appears. I simply do a walk-around before I get in the car and I know the tire pressure is good.

I recommend these gadgets. A little pricey at $19.99 a set, but I appreciate the peace of mind of instant warning if the pressure drops in any of the tires. They work over a wide range of pressures and I'm ordering sets for our other cars.

Griot's offers something similar but the caps have a flashing red LED when the pressure drops. A little too "bling" for my taste but there'd be no mistaking a problem at night.

You mean the caps auto-calibrate to whatever pressure they're put on at?

That's pretty cool -- I didn't know they worked that way. Sounds like a good investment (although they might be prone to disappearing). HPH

I saw these (the regular ones) at my auto store and was tempted to buy them. Thanks for the tip on the lighted ones since I sometimes just want to blow my hair dry and cool off at night after mowing the lawn and can't think of a better way than a top-down spin. Makes all that hard work seem not so bad. Now I won't have to worry about checking them in the dark. Talk about your expensive hairdryer.

Please understand, you can't install a set of these and go driving merrily off into the sunset and never check your tires again. As I stated, I do a walk-around every morning and still check the pressure with a tire gauge weekly.
