On my follow up visit last Wednesday he found that my vision is now 20/30 in that eye and I can now legally drive without glasses. He said my eye will continue to improve and will have a final visit (for that eye) in one month.

Had cataract surgery in both eyes. I also dont remember the vibration restriction.
Cataract surgery increases the possibility of a detatched retina. The restrictions reduce the chances of the detatched retina.
Some doctors do not use stitches. That allows you to see normally soon after surgery. Dr. Goetzinger makes a minimal incision and uses a ultrasonic lens buster to break up the OEM lens and then uses some kind of vacuum cleaner to suck out the pieces of the OEM lens. Next the lens implant is installed. Then, even though there is only a small incision, he closes it with three stitches. He claims that it will heal better with the stitches. He tells me that I will not see the improvment in vision until July when he removes the stitches.
No lifting over 10 lbs. No vibration. No bending over. KNEEL!!
No lawn mowing. No motorcycle. No autocrosses. Open trunk and put foot on opening to tie shoes.

The Ophthalmologist that did mine is concerned with the extended results. He says that although some doctors will release you to full activity right after surgery, studies have shown that restricted activity gives better results later - like 10 years out.
Ten years is a long time for me!
