Can you believe this?

Not in my town. Once he starts writing it you are out of luck. Most of these meter maids are fat and old retired ex-cops or wanted to be cops who love to hand out tickets. They are even worse in the next town (Rehoboth Beach). A lot of compalints have been registered as these towns depend on tourism and the demeanor of these jerks has a detrimental effect on visitors. If you visit bring lots of quarters and a good watch.

Galveston used to be the same way. All the good will the CoC tried to garner and the tourism they sought so desperately was totally at odds with the idiot police on the island who loved to harass the tourists. It never made sense to me in a town whose economy was based almost solely on tourism.

You are going to have an ulcer before you get to Pebble Beach. We have the same jerks at our beach town. Love to write tickets if you are 1 minute over on the meter than gloat about it. Had this happen last week and I think I still had 1 minute on the meter. The jerk wouldnt even acknowledge my challange so I just paid the $10 and moved on. I also baby my car and park in remote areas but I got a small ding a few months ago and dings are easy repairs if you have the right person which I do. Dont stress out over it too much as life is too short.
I know that you're right. It isn't worth an ulcer, especially in today's world where people have such little respect for anything that belongs to someone else. Still, my S is a prized possession and I'd like to keep it in as good condition as I can.
As far as talking cops out of giving tickets goes, up here in Randolph it's impossible to talk them out of a speeding ticket. I don't know about parking tickets, but I assume that they're just as hard assed. The major highways in New Jersey are patrolled by New Jersey State Troopers and you don't even try with them.
The cops in New York City were the worst. There was no talking to them. Often the tow truck drivers would work in tandem with the traffic/parking people and drive them to the illegally parked car. After the meter maid wrote the ticket, the tow truck would tow the car away. Once the process started, even if you came out as the ticket was being written, you had to go to the pound to get your car back.
I suppose the parking cops are the same everywhere. Give them a little power and it goes to their heads.

Well, I just tried to get the fine amount again, and again I got the message that my ticket isn't posted yet. Hard to believe that any town in New Jersey doesn't want to take my money.
I'll try again tomorrow.

Jerry,
Without question you are the Lou Gehrig of VSA. You've held the title for a very long time and have worn the crown well.
I'm not sure that you're going to be able to keep the title though. You now have some very tough competition. You may have to step aside.
