Can you believe this?

My fine is $51.00. I showed the ticket to one of my colleagues who had the same kind of thing happen to him about a year ago. He informed me that the fine is listed on the back of the ticket as a local supplemental violation, and I had to check by ordinance number. I'll mail my check to the court this evening when I get home.
I don't like the fine, but when all is said and done, I still think it's a small price to pay for being ding free for 6+ years. Having dings repaired would have cost me at least this much. I'm absolutely sure had I not parked the way I do I'd have a door full of dings by now. I'm still going to angle the car, only now I'll make sure I'm between the lines. And I'll still park in the furthest possible spot.
By the way, the ticket still isn't listed in the state's computer system.

I still say it's BS. I'd fight it. If they ticketed every one over a white line in our state $51 we'd be bailing out Wall Street.

I agree with you. It is BS, but the truth of the matter is that I was over the line, and I am guilty of improper parking. I agree that I'm not the only one, and I bet on any given day at any shopping mall, the cops could give out hundreds of tickets for this offense. I just happen to be the unlucky one who did this in a state and township that needs the revenue on a day the cop had something to prove.
I think the fine is rather steep. It seems to me "Improper Parking" should carry a $10 to $25 fine, but again, there is a budget crisis in New Jersey and us illegal parkers have to do our part.
I'm going to send in the check tonight just to put this to sleep. As I said, in the future I'm still going to park the same way except I'm going to make sure that I'm not over the line.
The way I figure it, $51.00 over 6.25 years comes to $8.16 per year of "ding" insurance. I wish I could get my healthcare insurance that cheap.

Actually I do trust other S2000 owners. I just don't like to take chances.
