Rob, I think that you should fight the ticket! Make the cop appear in court and explain his logic. Did you take pics of your exact position and surrounding wasteland to point out his ridiculous charge? I'll bet there's a 50/50 chance of getting the ticket thrown out.

Btw, I'm surprised that a cop can issue tickets on a shopping center lot....private property, no?

Question: How have you not been "outside" during the numerous weekend meets that we have both attended

Jerry,

I forgot about those few nights. Those are the only nights my S has ever slept outside.

I'm not sure about this but I think that up here shopping center lots are considered public roads. I know that people who park in handicapped spots can get tickets, and I know that when people make their own spots at Christmas time at the malls they can get tickets.

I want to see how much the ticket is before I decide what to do.

My understanding is the same as Jerry's. The lots are private and the ticket's are not enforceable. You'll have to let us know. Just be careful where you park when you fight the ticket. I know I would.

Go to court it will get thrown out, and on top of that police cannot write tix in a private parking lot.

At my reunion last year at Cornell, I parked on a Saturday night for the class banquet in a lot that wasn't clearly marked (in my opinion ) Of course, I came out to a ticket on my S.

As I hadn't yet made my reunion year donation (substantial one for a frugal person ), I figured to just take the ticket out of that amt and provide an explanation to the Alumni Money Counter Luckily, they didn't pursue me across state lines so I have escaped the wrath of Ezra Cornell

No. Except for the occasional teenage party that gets out of hand the cops have little to do but to give out speeding and parking tickets.
