As you can tell from my original message, our Sheaphead games deteriorated into mostly just drinking in college.
It has been 3 generations of Americans for me, my great-great grandmother came from Germany at about 10y.o. My moms' parents went to Germany and to Poland before it was free. They ended up giving away everythign they had but the clothes on thier back and a ticket home in Poland because the economy was so bad (back in the mid-80s).

Castle Risk, with special rules regarding retreat and re-supply. my cousins and I were pretty fanatic.
I was once so addicted to chess that I wasted many many hours studying it and playing it at various coffee shops. got pretty good too but I found that it just sucked up too much of my time, so now I hardly play it anymore.

Just looked in my garage to see what other games we have played in the past. How can we forget Sorry!. Other games include Clue (Mr. Green in the Parlor with the candle stick), dominos, Jenga, Battleship, Stay Alive, Connect Four, Booby Trap, Kerplunk, and so on. We played a lot of different games with our kids when they were growing up.

Learned backgammon yesterday from new guy friend. Played two games - I had backgammon on the first and won the second one, too! He might be reconsidering his decision...
