Default Best ever movie chase scene?

In another thread I mentioned that the movie "Bullit", starring Steve McQueen had the best ever car chase scene. (imo)

What's your favorite movie chase scene?

Bullit...No contest..

That was done on the streets in the bay area and no special effects.

With out a question Bullit. Several years ago Fox broadcasted it and I was very excited about taping it. I was totally disappointed to see that some network executive cut out MOST of the best scene in movie history.

The other memorable one is "The French Connection".

This is not a chase scene but LeMans with Steve McQueen is also a classic. It remains one of the only two or three movies in history to my knowledge that people died in the making.

I agree the French Connection was a good one too.

I was very impressed with the skill of McQueen in the scenes in Bullit, if he was the one driving. As you said, no special effects, except sometimes it was pretty apparent they played with the film speed with the Charger.

I'm sure they had to, those mopars were pigs in the corners.

technically I'm not sure it would qualify as a chase scene buuuuut,
"The Italian Connection" was pretty damn good for driving sequences.
the first one of course. the remake was ok.

Various chase scenes from Ronin. There were Audis, BMW M5s, + an old school S Class Mercedes.

The original Gone in 60 Seconds. More than half the movie is a single chase scene.

The climax scene of The Road Warrior is pretty good.

There's an amazing chase scene in a little-known Aussie movie called Malcolm.

The Transporter has some pretty good chase scenes.

If you get away from cars, Das Boot has some awesome chase/evade scenes.

But the best ever is The General. Most of the movie is a two-part train chase.

I'll never forget going to see Bullit when it 1st came out. The chase scenes were so realistic that I could feel my stomach floating. I don't get the same effect watching it on tv, but still the best I've seen.
